Compass Life Sciences has partnered with an exciting Biotech company who produce nucleic acid products for pharma and diagnostic companies. This is a perfect opportunity for someone to develop their skills and grow with a successful and ambitious company. Due to continued success and expansion of this York based company they are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager.

Technical and market knowledge is a must; therefore, a scientific background is necessary. Experience within protein, antibody-like technology, drug, or diagnostics sales is highly desirable. In addition, experience with licensing and value-based pricing will be advantageous.

The position will require time spent in the office and therefore the individual needs to be located within a commutable distance to York.

This is the perfect time to get in on the ground floor as the client has some cutting-edge projects in the pipeline. The successful candidate will be independent, driven and someone who is ready to hit the ground running while using their initiative from day one.
The role:

  • Lead generation
  • Client services and account management
  • Build and ensure long standing client relationships
  • Develop annual sales plans
  • Meet sales targets
  • Contribute to business development strategy
  • Prepares monthly client contact reports and business development pipeline reports
  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status
  • Attend conferences, scientific meetings, and seminars, client visitation or video calls
  • Produce weekly reports of activity and tasks given that week for the Director of Global Sales

Required skills:

  • Previous sales or business development experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrate the ability, with minimal input, to generate new opportunities worth £1m plus/annum in the first year
  • Experience with licensing and value-based pricing
  • Degree in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Motivated and go-getting attitude
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work
  • Organised
  • Team player
  • Fast learner
  • A high standard of IT literacy (MS – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Desired skills:

  • Previous experience of Microsoft Dynamics CRM
